A solar eclipse typically takes place two to four times per year, but odds are you may need to travel to another country or continent to photograph a solar eclipse. A solar eclipse takes place when the Moon crosses perfectly between the Earth and Sun, obscuring the sun for a brief period of time and putting Earth in the shadow of the Moon. Two of those events are the lunar and solar eclipses.
